For those that didn't make it to the Clubs 34th Kosciuszko Rally (2015) our cousins from South Australia who did make it have given us a nice write up in their Club magazine Flatchat.  This and other great reads are available in the Members Information Area.

    Hi Members and Friends,

Congratulations to our first joint Club Person of the Year recipients John Kemp and Kevin Foster at the Club Awards & Christmas Luncheon capably organised by Social Sec. Martin Robertson and hosted by VP Dave Prest (I had a previous commitment to the UMTC 40th Christmas Rally).  With 30 members in attendance this was our largest non-riding event of the year.

Nigel McFarlane will also get great enjoyment from his Kosciuszko Rally prize, a BMW Evo6 helmet.  BMW Group (Australia) donated this prize through its Principal Event Support Program (PESP) and I thank them on behalf of the Club for their continued support.  Didn't make it to the lunch?  Then you can read about it on the Club Blog and for the more adventurous the Club Facebook page.

The Awards & Christmas lunch concludes the offical Club events for 2015, but many if not all of us will continue riding through December and January 2016 whilst the What's On page will have other motorcycle related events.  If you are planning a ride and want company, then send me an email with date, time, route and start point and I can email members or you can use the Blog and fb page.

BMW celebrates 100 years of manufacturing in 2016 and your committee is looking for ideas to celebrate this milestone at the local level.  BMW is organising a weekend event in Munich next year with some members already showing interest in attending, so check out and bookmark BMW 100th Anniversary Celebration on What's On for updates.  The What's On calendar is already filling with rides, meetings, events and updates so make a favourite.

Lastly, I thank each of you and the Committee for your support through 2015 and looking forward to catching up with you at the next event.  Until then enjoy the company of family and friends this holiday season and ride safe.

    Enjoy the ride,

    Garry Smee

    Website - description

    Identifying features

    Model No: 0131/0132 K18 C 600 Sport
    Model No: 0133/0134 K19 G 650 GT

    What are the defects?

Due to the incorrect positioning of the abrasion protector, the flexibility of the front brake hose may be impaired. This can result in the brake hose suffering damage and may lead to a loss of brake fluid. The stopping power of the front brake could diminish, dependent on the amount of brake fluid lost.

    What are the hazards?

If the defect occurs, reduced braking capacity poses an increased accident hazard to the rider and/or other road users.

Mont are having a sale at their Fyshwick Retail outlet, 14 Pirie St, Fyshwick ACT (down the street from Canberra Times).  Mont manufacture and sell good quality camping and outdoor equipment.  I can recommend their Moondance tents for the lightweight rally crowd, but for those at Novembers meeting, you won't be standing up in them.

The good gear goes fast so check their extended opening times and whats on sale on their website or here.

    Fellow Members & Readers

For those that couldn't make the Clubs 34th Kosciuszko Rally you missed magnificent weather (even Saturday night's lightning - what rain?), great riding and the opportunity to camp in one of NSW best locations - Geehi Hut.  We had more attendees than in recent years, perhaps due to the offering of Germanic Kransky's with trimmings on Saturday night and BBQ egg 'n' bacon rolls and espresso coffee Sunday morning.  We had riders from as far afield as Brisbane (1) and Adelaide (3) who jointly took the longest distance rider awards, whilst the longest distance pillion had travelled from the far north coast of NSW.  Oldest combined bike and rider was 123 years and BMWTCNSW took out the largest Club attendance with 7 and strongly challenged by Sydney Tourers.

A special thanks to Bruce Barter (Member Sec) and Mitchell Smee for crewing the welcome counter and chefing duties and VP Dave and Margaret Prest for general duties and taking the trailer home.  Rolfe Classic BMW utilised the left over Kranky's, bacon, eggs and rolls at a gold coin morning tea raising $120 with Defence' Campbell Park Social Club selling the remainder soft drinks raising a further $70.

The Club very much appreciates BMW Group (Australia) support in providing the major raffle prize of a Evo6 Helmet or Rallye 3 Pro Jacket.

Thanks to all those who attended, supported the raffle and bought something to eat the Club has been able to donate $500 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.  Try not to make a withdrawal!

It's never to early to book your calendar for the BMWMCCACT 2016 35th Kosciuszko Rally (Club Event).

November marks the close of point scoring for the Club Person of the Year award, with your last chance to earn points being the GS Ride to Breakfast, Snowy Mountains Gourmet Food (with a tar option) and BMWMCCACT November Monthly General Meeting (Club Event) this weekend.

Social Secretary Martin has organised our BMWMCCACT Christmas Lunch (Club Event) on Saturday 5 December that promises to be a great social outing, so break out the Hawaiian shirt or floral dress and bring your partner along for lunch.  You need to pre-book and pay on the Club website to confirm your attendance.  The offical part of the lunch includes presenting the Kosciuszko Rally raffle winner their prize along with Club Person of the Year and Step Off awards.  Martin has conjured up some other entertainment and attractions - so be there.

Traditionally December is a quieter riding month, but there will still be events on the calendar or if you're planning a ride and want to share it with company send me an email with the details and I'll post it to the ride calendar.  I hope to better last years 3 months redgo and 3000km on my R100RS, failing that it will be the GS, ST or I might even borrow son Mitchell's new(ish) Ducati ST4S.  Roll on summer.

    Enjoy the Ride

The weather report must have scared off several intending riders, but those that did come had a most enjoyable ride with the only rain being a few drops on the windscreen.

When I arrived at Queanbeyan, I was greeted by Treasurer Bob, Dave Arton and new member Brian Senior - all keen to go. So after a short wait for any stragglers, we headed for Tarago via Bungendore. Taking the scenic and more interesting diversion of the Tarago Collector Road, we added a few extra kms before arriving at the Green Grocer at 10am. Before long we were joined by Frank Millwood, Goulburn resident and Club Life Member.

After a tasty meal, good coffee and chat, we set off for home via a more western route that took in the delightfully named towns of Mummel, Bannister and Grabben Gullen. A photo stop at the Gullen Wind Farm, started a discussion about wind farm related illnesses (tell em their dreamin'), before we had a quick run through Gunning, Gundaroo, Sutton and home.

A good day out on your bike with mates - hard to better.

    Cheers Martin R
